The first few weeks of Autumn can often be the most confronting. One minute you’re happily contemplating another rosé in the sun, the next you’re cowering from a southerly and cursing about not having a jacket. But the jarring change always gives way to pleasure as the leaves change colour and the homespuns replace the T-shirts; a golden, cozy slide towards winter. The hankerings change, too. Gone are crudos and light leafy things, making way for richer, stickier, more comforting treats. A time for ‘hello old friend’ recipes, as a salve for the cooler weather, which makes it all worth it really.
This week we have a double whammy of content to make up for my being away last week (moving house really is absolutely abominable and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone, especially over Easter). Regular programming from now on.
Happy cooking, and a lovely week ahead.
